Not much to say, too sticky and warm, and tired. Here are pictures from 5 minutes ago, lol.
Ha ha, I found myself saying that A LOT tonight when Howard Haby & I went on a little photo excursion. The original plan was to assist Howard with his photographing of a local musician, but that didn’t quite pan out. After a short wait, we decided to take a few snaps up around C-side.. not much point in wasting a nice evening right? besides the mosquitoes really did need to be fed.
Turns out I have quite a bit to learn when it comes to flash photography, and photography in general. I get by, but my skills need some fine tuning. It was kind of embarassing to have someone tell you what to do all the time, but hey, that’s what learning is like and so be it. It was all good fun anyway! I’d do it again.
I got some good pictures, a couple of them are pretty random but I was trying out some different lenses and light schemes and these are my favorites out of what I took tonight. Thanks for the opportunity Howard, if I ever learn to do anything better then you can with a camera I have the right to gloat! I felt like a fifth grader tonight lol!
Hello everyone, how are you doing today? ever wonder if anyone really cares at all when they ask that question? I do. I do meaning I do wonder, and I do care.
I’ve been packing up my life today, well, about 8 boxes of it so far. Narrowing down the things that we really won’t be needing for the next two weeks and shipping it up the coast with my Dad. My dad has actually been in Goose Bay for a little over a week now for work, and we’ve had the pleasure of his company every night for supper. It’s nice to feel like you’re playing host to your parents instead of the other way around. Maturity- i has it.
Haha 😛 Okay, so I’ve got two sites for you to check out. One I’ve been following for years now, it’s pretty much just a bunch of silly cat pictures with hilarious captions. Some of them are ‘omg my sides are hurting! i can’t breathe! honey grab me a paper bag!!’ type funny, some aren’t. Be prepared!
Also, a second site I recommend is something I stumbled across just a few minutes ago, it’s a website called nlphotogs, and apparently it’s a majorly resourceful place for photographers in this province. It has a lot of great links and opportunities, and because of the blog portion I found out that HENRYS, yes, henrys! is coming to St. John’s NL. VERY excited about this! Anyways, here’s the site..
Well, thats pretty much my beef for the day. I’ve posted an older picture, me and my dad some 22 years ago.
Aaron and I hit up the local yard sales this morning, after hitting the snooze button for the third time we figured now was as good a time as any to take off. I’m really glad we did, because I came across a number of great finds. As a photographer, finding a decent frame, one that you KNOW will work well with your picture, is often a daunting task. I found six. Yes, six. SO happy. They’re more modern then most, the frames are wooden, but they’re wide and the actual slot for the picture with glass is 4×4, and then some are 5×7. All of them are either black, or white. I plan on filling them with really colorful photos to add contrast.
I also found some vintage jewellery. Does anyone remember the time when Owls were the thing? I know it was at my Aunts time..haha..I remember she let that fad linger for a long time. No offense to any of my readers who also partook in this owl stage of life.
Anyways, I’ve attached a couple pictures of todays finds, next Saturday is when we have OUR yard sale. Yep, getting rid of the furniture this time, moving day is lingering near. YES!
On occasion, at random points during the day (sometimes it’s only one point every few weeks) I get these moments of pure happiness. Similar to what Saint Teresa would call “locutions” or, words from the supernatural that enter your mind spontaneously. I’m having one of those days where, though everything is not right and at ease, it sort of feels that way.
I’m sitting here with my bowl of raspberry & blueberry yogurt, sipping some ice cold water, and entirely devoting myself to becoming a better, healthier person. I have to change a lot of things in my life, I know that now. Today is a good day to start.
I picked up some new literature today, it’s a novel called “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. I started reading it about 20 minutes ago and already I’m on page 56. It’s really opening my eyes, like a new pair of glasses when your vision was at a standstill for wearing the same pair 2 years in a row.
Is it coincidence that I picked up this life changing book when I was at the drugstore today? Would I have been this euphoric had I purchased the book last week when I noticed it there? who knows. I actually saw the advertisement for the movie a while ago and decided that I HAD to read the book. You know the story is always better on paper.
