Every Last Bite

It’s Sunday, September 20, a total of 17 days have gone by since my last post. I wish I could say I was doing something super cool and productive during that time, but the truth is I haven’t been posting much lately because I have 94% of my available space used on this blog which limits me to the imagery that I can upload. Which is also why I’ve mostly been sharing poetry (not really a bad thing!).

I haven’t really written a ‘journal’ entry in quite some time so I suppose I’ll fill you in on the comings and goings of this girl’s life.

I have a second job now, a part-timer as a bouncer in one of the local bars. I’ve actually been working there since early July. I know, I’m laughing at myself too. If my high-school self could see me now I’m sure she would think I was a stranger. I enjoy it though. I guess I’ve found a new sense of confidence since I started strength training in April.

I’ve read some really good books, poetry and fiction, and I’m still reading quite a bit which is odd for me because I typically have to be really in the mood to read and pay attention. Notable books: The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, and The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult.

My dog Grace which you’ve seen a lot of on this blog was given a diagnosis of progressive retinal atrophy and is slowly going blind. We’re all adjusting, mostly me, because I’m used to changing around furniture and letting her run around off-leash. She’s just a happy-go-lucky pup and doesn’t really notice her blindness until she runs into the door and looks at me with her, “why’d you put that there?” face.

I recently came up with a good idea for a book, but I can’t be bothered to write it. I’ve written it down in notes – character sketches, some scenes, background info, in hopes that when I feel like it someday I’ll pick it up and actually write it.

Life’s been weird lately. I’ve been making a lot of choices that are unlike me to make, so in between shaking my head at myself, trying to justify my decisions, making the best of things, and just trying new experiences, I’m somehow making a life that’s not quite boring and not quite superb.

I’m just going to keep on as I am, enjoying every last bite.

M.
