I have that spark. I have that fire inside that burns and wants to be let out. Today just wasn’t my day.
I decided while I was doing the dishes that I would feel excited about tomorrow, afterall, it’s all for a good cause. Silly me was not pleased at first that I would be working on Saturday and Sunday, but then I opened my eyes to the bigger picture.
The whole point of Sunday’s Telethon (don’t worry, I’ll get to it!) is to help children. The official name is “the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation Telethon.” It happens every year around this time. The Journalism class, some film & video students and a mass of volunteers come together in joint effort to raise money for sick children.
Why was it I was mad about giving up my weekend. Was I that selfish. This thought came to mind:

The telethon has a reputation for raising thousands of dollars for working families who can’t afford to take their children out of town for hospital care. Such a great cause. I’m smiling now thinking about it, after getting out of that funk I was in I’m quite happy to be doing what I am on Sunday.
Personally, I’ll be the one who generates the on screen characters…aka the person who puts the scrolled text on the bottom welcoming you to the event, and encouraging you to dial the number on the screen to donate.
This year will host live musical acts as well, it will be a good time. I encourage anyone with channel 9 (Eastlink) to tune in and watch. The event is hosted at the local Lions Club.

In other news, I had an interview today with the Georgian. I know its faux paux to talk about things on here, especially when people of importance may be reading it, but I just feel like stating the fact that: a) this is an important step in my life b) I know I can do a great job c) I’m dedicated, and d) no regrets.
